How does a double glass framing works?
A double glass frame, often called a “floating frame,” secures the artwork by sandwiching it directly between two layers of glass held together by the outer frame. This creates a transparent border around the art, making it appear as if it is hovering within the frame without the need for a traditional mat board.
What is the common glass thickness of double glass frame?
The most common thickness for each pane in a double glass frame is 2mm (approx. 1/16 inch), which balances clarity and weight. For larger frames, 3mm glass is often used to provide extra durability and prevent the panes from bowing under pressure.
